Christmas 2009 message from Mara
We have received the following news and greetings from Bishop Hilkiah and Arthur Mauya in Mara, about the money that was sent from Swaffham Bulbeck in December. Money was sent by the other parishes in the benefice and we hope to report news about these donations too.
Message from Bishop Hilkiah
Please receive warm greetings from Mara My wife Martha and our family also send their love.
I would like on behalf of the people of Mara to thank the PCC for such a generous gift. It has come to us at the time when God gave a precious gift to His people in the World, hence we in Mara have double celebration because we have to celebrate the gift from God and that which is from God but though Swaffham Bulbeck not Mary.
The money is going to be used as instructed and you will receive the feed back.
I wish you all Happy and peaceful Christmas and happy New Year. I believe that we will not go a lone despairing but He will encourage us in our walk. Math.:1:23 ``GOD WITH US``
May God bless us all.
Please give my love to your Vicar, to all our friends in Swaffham Bulbeck and the members of the PCC.
Yours + Hilkiah Omindo Deya ACT DIOCESE OF MARA
Financial report from Arthur Mauya
Greetings from our Anglican diocese of Mara. I am here under attaching a Progressive and Financial report of the GBP 2055.75 we received from the PCC of Swaffham Bulbeck.
PROGRESSIVE REPORT ON 2055.75 POUNDS FROM PPC OF SWAFFHAM BULBECK
Our dear Brother and Sisters in Christ.
The Diocese of Mara and the people of Mara have been blessed by your support to the ministry of the church in Mara Diocese. We gratefully received 2055.75 pounds from you towards the end of the year.
The money was spent as follows:-
(1) THE PURCHASE OF A TRICYCLE , We bought a tricycle for Magdalene Nyambuge of Hekwe Parish. She is crippled and was finding it difficult to go to church and visit her neighbours. She was very grateful to such a helping hand from Swaffham Bulbeck. We used the money you said could be used by the Diocese according to our needs.
(2) SUPPORT FOR PASTORS TRAINING. At St. Philips Theological College where Revd Roger Bowen was the Principal we have 14 students studying there. It was time for Christmas and New Year Holidays and we had no funds to pay for their fares to come back and be with their families during the holiday time. We paid for their return fares with the funds which you said could be used by the Diocese. They have gone back to the college encouraged by your support which enabled them to join their families during their holidays.
(3) College fees for Rev. Samson Wegoro. We had no money to pay for Rev'd Wegoro’s fees who is in second year. Through God’s grace we managed to pay for his 1st year’s fees. We were in a bad corner this year but when you allowed us to use the rest of the money to support the Diocese we thought it better to pay for his fees for the year 2009-2010. The Diocese and the student have received great support.
(4) Desks for Karukekere Primary School. We received 282 pounds for desks which yielded 565,600 T.shs. We made 9 desks. The school pupils, the staff and the village Government at Karukekere were very happy with the desks !!
(5) Roofing Sheets for Karukekere Secondary School. We received 187.50 pounds towards the roofing. We managed to buy 17 Iron Sheets , these were officially presented to the village Government on behalf of the school committee, again this support was received with great thanks.
(6) We also used some money to transport the desks and the iron sheets and also the tricycle.
We are very grateful to your generous support and may God continue to bless you all and your ministries.

From my list you can note that our parishes are led even by Evangelists and lay Readers. This is an outcome of shortage of pastors, which has compelled us to start a certificate course for pastors at Kowak Christian Training Centre. It is a three-year course. We have enough teachers to run the course. Our staff includes 3 with Masters, 4 with first degrees and 2 Diploma Holders. We have started with 15 students. We have only 3 full time teachers. Please pray with us that the courses will be fruitful.
I’m very very grateful to your support.
Yours in His kingdom.
